Hi, I’m Maddy, the photographer and owner behind Maddy B Photography.
For most of my life, I was known as an athlete. As a former Division I basketball recruit and lifelong competitor, my identity was rooted in sports, discipline, and always pushing myself to be better. When a career-ending injury changed my path, I was forced to slow down and discover a different side of myself. That shift led me back to something I had always loved but never fully pursued—photography.
Photography had always been something I was naturally drawn to, but as I began taking it more seriously, I wanted to learn the craft beyond simply picking up a camera. I took photography classes and spent time developing my skills, learning about composition, lighting, editing, and how to turn the moments I saw in my head into images I was proud of. What started as a hobby slowly became something much bigger.
I’ve always had a passion for capturing the little moments that often go unnoticed—the way the light dances on the water, the laughter between friends, the excitement of a game, or the beauty of nature in its rawest form. For years, though, I was too anxious to fully pursue photography and make it more than just a hobby. It took me a while to realize that this wasn’t just something I loved—it was a part of who I am.
Living on Cape Cod, I’m endlessly inspired by the ocean, the outdoors, and the places that make New England feel like home. Whether I’m capturing scenic landscapes, portraits, families, couples, sports, events, or everything in between, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel real, timeless, and full of life.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: every moment is worth remembering. I want my photographs to tell your story in a way that feels true to you—authentic, meaningful, and uniquely yours.

Cate has always had a passion for photography, spending years behind the camera capturing the people, places, and moments that mean the most. With a natural eye for detail and a love for storytelling, photography has become one of the ways she connects her creativity with the things she loves most.
A former college hockey player, Cate brings the same energy, focus, and attention to detail from the rink into her work behind the camera. Her love for sports, the outdoors, and adventure makes her especially drawn to capturing moments in their natural environment—whether that’s on the field, along the coast, on a hiking trail, or simply enjoying time outside.
Cate is also a big part of what happens behind the scenes at Maddy B Photography. From helping plan shoots and bringing creative ideas to life to jumping behind the camera herself, she brings her own perspective and experience to every session.
For Cate, the best photographs are the ones that feel natural and genuine. She loves capturing the moments that aren’t always perfectly posed—the laughter, movement, excitement, and little details that make each story unique.
Us: Behind the Lens & Business
Our story started in college, where we met as student-athletes and became friends before eventually becoming something more. What started as a college friendship turned into a relationship, and over the years, we’ve grown together through new adventures, new chapters, and plenty of life changes.
Photography has always been something we’ve shared. We love being outside, exploring new places, traveling, spending time with our dogs- Jennika, Oakley, and Hadley, and, of course, taking entirely too many pictures along the way. Somewhere between capturing our own adventures and talking about all the things we could create, Maddy B Photography became something we wanted to build together.
Today, Maddy leads the creative vision and photography, while Cate brings her own experience behind the camera and helps make the ideas behind the business happen. From planning sessions and shooting to editing, brainstorming, and everything in between, there’s a little bit of both of us in what Maddy B Photography has become.
At the end of the day, we’re just two people who fell in love, love being outdoors, and somehow turned one of our favorite things into something we get to share with other people.
We’re pretty lucky we get to do it together.
